Up-Grade: DHS Tutorial Program

DHS, in partnership with the PTO, offers a tutorial program for any students in need of additional instruction.
  1. Tutoring will take place Tuesday and Thursday from 2:15 to 3:15 in B2.
  2. Late buses will be provided for students who need a ride home.
  3. Tutoring will offer help in core subjects such as English, Science, Social Studies, and Math, with one or two tables set up for each subject staffed by one or more tutors.
  4. Tutoring takes the form of helping students with work that they bring to the tutoring table.
  5. Students will arrive for tutoring in one of three ways:
    (1) A letter will be sent home to parents of students performing poorly in class (reflected by their midterm reports) indicating that after-school tutoring is available
    (2) teacher referral
    (3) walk-ins
  6. Teacher referrals might be coordinated with the assistant principals' offices so that parents are notified when a teacher submits the referral form.
  7. Student attendance at tutoring will be tracked and reported back to faculty via email by department so a teacher
will know if a referred student is attending tutoring.
  8. DHS Honor Society students who serve as tutors will earn credit for their service certificate.
  9. Snacks will be provided.

All students are welcome!
