SPRING - JUNIOR YEAR
Register to take the Spring SAT or ACT. Register to take the June SAT Subject Tests IF the schools you are considering require them. Deadline date is the end of April to take the June test. Research colleges based on your preferences (e.g. size, location, distance from home, academic major, chances of admission). Use the SuperMatch college search tool in Naviance to customize your search. Visit with your counselor to discuss your "working" list of schools. Schedule visits to the campus(es). Call the school(s) in advance. Most colleges offer an organized tour and orientation. Try to visit schools during the summer. Refine your "working list" to 5 or 6 schools. Check online for the application and financial aid information.

If a school requires teacher recommendations ask a junior teacher if he/she would be willing to write a favorable recommendation. You could ask a teacher of a subject related to your college major (e.g. engineering, chemistry, physics and/or math teacher). Please give them the recommendation form early enough so they can write a good recommendation without feeling pressured by time.

SEPTEMBER - SENIOR YEAR
Submit applications online, request transcripts through Naviance.
WATCH APPLICATION DEADLINE DATES so a school you are qualified for is not eliminated because of failure to apply on time. Please keep in mind that the guidance office processes 600-700 transcripts in a six week period of time. It will take two to three weeks for us to process transcripts. Plan to submit transcript requests by Halloween! Schedule interviews with colleges that require them.

WINTER - SENIOR YEAR
January
Parents should submit the necessary financial aid form AFTER JANUARY 1ST. Watch the financial aid deadline dates set by the colleges (usually Feb. 1 or Mar. 1). Four to six weeks after the form is filed you will receive an estimate of expected family contribution. Attend our annual financial aid night which focuses on completing the financial aid forms. Watch the guidance bulletin for local scholarships January to May.
